These are not my words.
But damn, he’s never failed to impress me since day one when he was the little guy stepping in as cymbalist.

We got Gold.
With a score of 84.17% (Not 84.7% according to the recording i have.)
3rd place. Just that 0.83% to gold with distinction.

Most of the exco members went to listen to the announcement of the results.
Other band members shouted and cheered so loudly when they got a silver. The higher your expectations, the greater your disappointment.
Our hearts sank when we heard the results.

However, we’re Hwachong Band. We can do it. We’re not afraid to set our expectations high. Even if we fail to achieve it, we stand up strong and make a comeback.
And as a matter of fact, we did really well if you compare to most of the other schools.

I know all of us were hoping for a top band.
It’s okay to be disappointed, but please do not be demoralized.
We did our best, i believe we made countless of audiences feel touched.

It’s a stepping stone towards SYF ‘09.
We still have a long way to go. Buck up, work even harder.

We endured the numerous band practices we had per week.
We endured the scoldings and naggings.
We endured the band practices that always dragged so long.
We endured the long hours of tuning.
We endured the times when we struggled with the notes and rhythms.
We endured the times we got send out by Mr. Leng.

Most importantly, we endured all these, together.
As a section, as a band.

I’m really proud of you guys.
I’m touched by how much effort you all had put in.
Though there were numerous times when you all did not practise efficiently enough, let’s just learn from this.
I believe we deserve much better, but there’s nothing we can do to change the results, just work hard for SYF ‘09.

We have the potential, just put in your best effort during band practices and even sectionals.
Do what Mr. Leng wants you to, do what your SLs wants you to conscientiously.

It’s really not a bad result, considering we only practised for 2 months.
And considering that we achieved this without the sec 4s.

Please still treat the band practices after this seriously.
More serious then how you treated NBC.

Quite a number of people smsed the leaders and SLs asking for the results.
I’m really quite relieved to see how you guys are concerned about how the band is doing.
Just make sure you do not get overly-affected by the results.

I was really touched when one band member actually smsed me and said “I found out that i actually do care (about the band)… blahblah.”

I’m sure through all these practices, you all had learnt alot, in terms of playing and understanding your fellow section mates, band mates.

Play as a band, win as a band.
It would be a greater sense of achievement than winning in some individual award.

Promote the band spirit, join in the chain smses!
Come early to practise with others, have dinner with them!

Learn from all the mistakes, do not repeat them.

All in all, just know that the leaders and exco are really proud of you.
We all love you.
